I once got dinged in an interview because I didn’t seem excited enough about the role. But I was excited, I just don’t perform enthusiasm the way extroverts do. I prepped hard, asked thoughtful questions, and followed up quickly… and still got told I didn’t bring enough energy. It’s frustrating to feel like you have to fake a personality type just to get hired. How do you come across as genuinely interested in a role without sounding over-the-top or fake?

Maybe say phrases like "I'm so excited by the potential I see in this job and company" its okay to stretch the truth a bit.

Asking thoughtful questions. It gives you the chance to show you've done your homework and are interested in the role without coming across as totally disingenuous. It's the whole "show, don't tell" thing - those questions will make your interest clear without you having to say it.

You don’t have to change your personality to get a job. You do need to be mindful of how you are coming off in any professional setting. Show enthusiasm in your own way and make it a point to do that when the interviewer seems to want more.

Tricky balance

hi big introvert partly cause people and partly i get sick if someone looks at me and i fee you on this. i am quiet and reserved so much so that my husband doesn't know me like that and its not that i dont like him he's one of my people so its ok but is i detest faking niceties. I am straight forward and dont do idol chit chat well. i just want another job like my last one i had the joy of not talking to anyone and being able to get my work done without distractions. other people are distractions. As to your question i have no idea like im interested but i dont know how to be an extrovert for an interview

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
