I've never booked changeable tickets. On any trips that work has asked me to postpone or alter, I expense the change fees and any price differences. I also use WFH when I travel for fun to not use PTO. As long as I prove that I can still get my work done and still bill, there isn't a problem.

I appreciate this response! I have all the ducks lined up (a few days/half days PTO and customer PM approval to WFH, built it into the project plan etc) just still helps to hear.

I do that regularly if I'm taking a long weekend (ie. Take Friday-Sunday for vacation but fly out Wednesday night and work remote Thursday). This way I can start my vacation as soon as I sign off rather than first starting to travel.

In a week but work a few remotely from your travel destination? My time in industry made me feel guilty when I would ask to WFH but I know it’s way more common here. Also saves me from having to use 5PTO days on one trip.

What do you do when small local firms won’t give your resume the time of day, but everyone you ask for resume feedback on says your materials are fine? These aren’t big law or boutiques, we’re talking probably paying $20-30 an hour part time as an associate with firms of 1-3 attorneys generally. I know biglaw is recovering from COVID but has it really hurt small law so badly getting an interview is next to impossible? Any and every practice area. Work is work. Approx. 500k local population size.

Would you be put off if a company that is reaching out for recruiting described their culture as “high intensity, 24/7 execution mindset”?

Are there any healthcare PR agencies who are open to hiring those with little to no experience but who are really interested in learning? I would be interested in transitioning from B2B / tech / advertising into healthcare and taking a lower title, but a couple recruiters have told me most do not want to train incoming talent. I totally understand of course, but wondering if an SAE applying for a lower title in a field they don’t have a ton of experience with is appealing at all.

Does anyone have any insight on dealing with AA when they’ve changed your flight? I booked a flight in January for October. Originally the flight back was a non-stop from CDG to ORD. Last week I went to check on the itinerary and saw my non-stop now has a connection in DFW (way out of the way). I called AA, got a super rude attendant, and she told me that since I was informed and accepted the terms any changes I make would come with a penalty. I was not informed prior to this. Con’t

2nd yr associate, but 1st year doing litigation (med mal defense). I know it’s pretty common to get time cut, especially with ins clients, but I’m getting progressively worse. Everything seems to take me way too long whether it’s motions, discovery, depo summaries, etc. i don’t get to interact with the other associates at our firm (diff dept, diff floor, covid) so i have no idea if this is normal or i should be concerned? how do you get faster w/o quality of your work suffering? Help!! 😂

💔- when you apply for a job you really want and wait patiently for a response and when you get one after following up a week later the response is “That job opening post was in error. We don’t have a staff role as described, apologies. Thank you for your interest in (fill in the blank) “
