I'm not going to lie to you OP I literally hate training new people. My boss keeps asking me to train others because I am really good at training but truth be told I feel like it slows me down and I have a job to do. I really do not have the energy to do my job and teach someone else how to do theirs most days. Its been really taxing but I know I won't get promoted if I don't step up to the plate.

I think it depends on the environment. I loved training when I worked at a previous hospital. We had the usual rubric to get through but how we did that was up to the person training. No specific timeline or order and the length of training was estimated but graduating to independence was something the trainer and the new employee decided together.
Here it's structured and there is a specific goal set for each week and sometimes it specifies cases or procedures we haven't seen yet but may later. So then I'm forced to sign it off as "verbal education with teach back and understanding verified". Plus we've had instances where a new grad or new nurse will complain about a trainer being too critical or not allowing them more autonomy sooner. The leadership, rather than believe the trainer is doing exactly what is necessary to safely train a new employee, assumes it's bullying and now we're in trouble. We had an aid mess up badly...but rather than believe it was the aid not listening and following the training given leadership assumed the trainer failed. Sent the employee through paid training with another staff member to find they still didn't know what they were doing. That role was not meant for them. Did the supervisors apologize to the initial instructor for doubting him? Nope..and he left and took all of his talent and years of experience to another unit.
So I declined to train anyone here. It is not worth it. Previous to this job I was always of the mindset "What we learn we must teach". My job security and sanity is worth more than training the next generation in these conditions.

It’s true I suppose it def does depend on many factors - I just really dislike it and then for them to leave shortly after very disheartening

I actually love training. It's my chance to make sure they're appropriately trained
