Just wondering how it makes sense for someone to make significantly more as a billing manager than I am paid as a provider??? What job would you have if we didn’t work as hard as we do actually seeing patients???
I’m not understanding why anyone would work if it wasn’t for the money? That’s what confuses me.
I have been a Denials Specialist for 3 years working both remote and in person. I love my company but feel I am a little underpaid at 20.50$ an hour. Do you think that pay is accurate or should I advocate for a high pay? I was also thinking out possibly moving up to a Denial Prevention position within the company. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I would also have the same question! I’m in the same role Denial Specialist also 3 years AR for 9 years along with training people and paid a little over $19 an hour and feel severely underpaid for the skill set I have. Feeling like it’s time to either explore the market or ask for a market review :/
Any advice on how to start getting into billing roles? I’m in healthcare so I would need to pivot but open to advice!
What is your dental problem?
I am currently a medical biller making $15/hour. I can't afford to quit but I know I'm being sooo underpaid. Are there jobs out there who will hire me to work from home with less than a year experience? I'd be happy with $18, but 15 is just ridiculous. They have me doing enough work to keep 5 people busy, and I feel very taken advantage of.
If you’re in NYC try health and hospitals the HCI position pays more than what you make now and has benefits.
My experiences are in Healthcare, other than my bachelors in economics I don't have any formal training or certification other than learning on the job. My previous role landed me the opportunity to spearhead a brand new outpatient clinic and create a billing process from the ground up as the billing coordinator. Took a year off of work for personal reasons and landed a contract position as a denials specialist working on 2021 backlog claims. At this point I'm just trying to figure out how to get back on track for management roles.

Have you considered your MBA? I think you would be great and it would open a lot of doors for you. There is also Masters in Health care administration.
All I can say I thought I was underpaid as a rev cycle manager, and now this confirms it.
What state are you in? Physician owned practice?
Can you please just put it in an outline And tell me everything
Very nice congratulations!!!

Thank you! I hope I can get to Director soon :)
How many times did you switch company?

I explained some of the reasons such as, offered my first management position, relocation, company sold, “my next big challenge” but luckily enough I was never called out to explain each one
Congratulations! What your experiences? What path did you take to get to the role you just excepted?

For me, it really came down to someone giving me the title I wanted. I also was really good at explaining the Revenue Cycle in interviews. My suggestion to anyone in billing is, don’t apply to billing positions, look for jobs in RCM. They just pay better.
I work as a Patient Accounts Manager. I believe I have been marginalized. How do you break into the market without the title? If you would share your journey specifics with me I would sincerely appreciate it. I currently earn 65k. I have a bachelor degree in Business Administration. Thank you.

Hi. Well, if you’re already Patient Accounts Manager, then you are halfway there. I would start applying to Revenue Cycle Manager jobs and really make sure to drive the conversation in your interview and focus on how Patient Accounts Manager relates to the Revenue Cycle process. My experience is, older companies still use Patient Accounting when in reality it’s very similar if not the same to RCM. Drop me a DM and we can chat more.
i am a patients account analyst with over 4 year’s experience. I have been at the same company as well. I feel like i am not paid my worth at all. Also i have read a lot of advice you posted here and i realize that i am stagnant in my position. I barely have time to update my resume.
Also, I forgot to add congratulations!
Congratulations

I’m a physician analyst 3 ( billing) for a hospital. I will be sitting for my CPC exam early next year will it be better to switch to coder or just ask for a raise after I pass.

Why not both? Start applying and see if you get any good offers. Take that new offer to your current boss and see if they will match. Congratulations
Congrats!
I mean- I went from $30k to $150k in a year. You act like it’s some miracle… point?
RUDE AND UNNECESSARY.
I’m a supply chain analyst in FL making $65K. The hospital system I work only gave me a 3% annual raise. I was wondering if I should start looking for a new job or stay until all of this recession talk is over. Any suggestions?
A lot has to do with what state/region you live in. Bureau of labor statistics gives pretty accurate numbers. I’ve seen the same position in Texas be 50k less than east coast.

You’re totally right. This position is in California, in SoCal. But I was in San Jose. Both are pretty HCOL.
What did you do to make such a hug me difference in pay
Wow I’d love to know how!
