No, you dodged a bullet! That is shady work on their part.
Right? They haven’t contacted me either, so I think at this point I lost the job.
It's hard to say, but it's possible the company just isn't in the mood to negotiate. It's an employer's market now, with a lot of people looking for work. And while it may seem unfair, companies can offer low salaries and there will be people who accept it. That's just how markets work, when jobs are hard to find salaries get pushed downward.
If we NORMALIZE going after our Worth, and drop the "Aristocrat/Peasant" Mentality programmed into us by the people that stay rich by us not Standing Up for Our Worth, people that are less qualified and motivated than us half the time... These "Bait and Switch" patronizing gaslighting techniques would have real consequences against companies that utilize these Dehumanizing practices. God is Good. Stay Divine. Leave the Demonic where it is. 🙏🕊☀️🪽

Giving that I have 12+ yrs of experience in kitchen I’m in the same boat as you,got fired in July 19 ,over a laceration I had on my hand while on the clock ,my then boss didn’t pay for the urgent care bill and decided to fire me over me not wanting to pay it .since then I’ve done to interviews ,and all of them do not care that I have the experience I have they just want to offer even $7.25 an hr when at least I expect $18-$20 but at some point in interview don’t even get invited to sit down ,instead I stand by the hostess station and they speak to me from the other side ,keep in mind that I even take my time to make a while resume and to every interview I go to absolutely no one brings a resume ,and even like that they go by the word of someone else instead of the one that actually have the experience and a resume ,I miss the old days when you was expected to walk in with resume in hand !!!! ,wish you the best luck ! .no employer cares about experience anymore .they just want to low ball you without knowing how much of a hard worker you could be !
I’m so sorry you lost your job! That’s BS what happened to you! And I agree! I went to meet them all dressed up with a resume, folder and pen. I came in as a professional but they were looking to lowball someone and that ain’t me!
I need work
Have you applied at places? Where do you live?
It's easy for someone to say ANY unethical company that undercuts a suitable applicants clearly bait & switch posted job vacancies salary in the name of business will continue to "work their way round" "other things" that border on "violations"...see it for what it is & not for the loss or missed opportunity you don't want to find yourself further mucked about it.
I just got an email from them a few days ago saying sorry and that they found someone else. Clearly me calling them out on the pay was enough for me to be disqualified. It's all good though, I did get a job offer elsewhere. I dodged a bullet with that job.
I hope for your sake you didn't lose the opportunity. I would've been wondering why they made the change too. I guess it might've been better off to try to negotiate after you got an offer instead of during the interview, but still. You shouldn't be penalized just for wanting a bit more than they were offering, especially since that number was right in the middle of their initial given range.
If it’s like a larger retail that could be your Markets value for the position. Like if you were in California it’s $22 and so on.
Something happened to me on my first interview the job was $ 20 and when and when I was about to get to the failed it was $18 and I said no i can't make it and their said well we can make $19 but it depend on the facilities. so don't worry stand on your values.
I would stay hopeful since this is your third interview. I do not think that would affect their decision to hire you. You simply asked a question and you got your answer but best of luck to you.
Hey all, just saw a posted job vacancy where, get this, towards the end of the job description was a "disclaimer" stating the salary "may" pay less than that which is posted. It said the pay range but reading the job description they didn't have in itty bitty font but it was there, shockingly the same, just to bait & switch. Kinda but not totally forthright huh?
I know it can be hard to see in the moment, when you NEED work, and when it's a buyer's market right now, but you dodged a bullet. A company that doesn't appreciate your worth will never fully appreciate you. And they will not "make it up" with potential future raises. The best way to be successful is to get a fair wage up front.
I see from a later post that things worked out for you. Congratulations, and just an example of how you benefitted from sticking to your guns, knowing your worth, and not accepting a lowball offer.
If they did not want to pay you $20 they weren't worth your time! You would have been miserable! Trust you will find something you will love and they will pay you more than $20!
