They said your rival was somebody who’s going to be stuck in that role and they went with them? They weren’t looking for somebody to grow? Am I miss reading this?
Hi - thanks for responding. Here in the UK "getting stuck in" can be translated as "hitting the ground running". It was an interim role and the job was a mix of strategic and tactical work. It's tricky as I wanted to demonstrate gravitas - that I could be a trusted advisor to support on big reputation issues - but was also be happy to roll up my sleeves and do hands-on stuff too. Maybe I didn't get that across as well as the other candidate.
