You only had lunch 10 times a year? Geez man...
Lunch breaks are pretty normal. It’s important to block time to have your lunch
If they’re telling you 50 before you hit the desk, it’s probably more like 70 hours a week. Watch out
I also worked at Fisher for ~10 years. Some roles, ie Research/Portfolio Management, you will on occasion work more than 50 hours depending on market environment, potential trading activity or earnings announcements. But most roles, 50-55 hrs is max.
Not sure where you’re at but it’s law where I’m at that you have to take at least a 30 min lunch. If you don’t the company can actually get in trouble for it for the labor board, regardless of salary. But apart from all that take it for yourself, no use burning yourself out for a company you don’t even own.
Why would you not take a break ?is that a good example or best practice think about it
Yah lunch breaks are common but no true hour tracking for salaried rolls including management . I’ve worked here for going on 10 years.
This is how it works for me at Fisher, I work 50 with a one hour lunch I block off every day in a normal week. Say something comes up that requires extra work and I work 55 or even 60 that week, then I will work 40-45 the next week. Simple as that.
