Rushing hiring was my mistake too. And I didn't even have a dedicated hiring team because I didn't want to spend on it. But now I do, and it's made all the difference. Slower, culture-fit focused recruiting saved us headaches later.
Few things to keep in place while building a team for Start-up:
Clarify roles and priorities
Hire for alignment and adaptability
Document everything
Set culture intentionally
I think everyone does this at some point. But sometimes it is hard to tell if they will be a culture fit utntil you hire them. I have had people get hired and turn out completely different than they were in the interview.
Go slow with hiring. Talent is worth the wait and the money.
