I said "yes, of course" without hearing the full request.

Now I'm in charge of something I barely understand.

What's your tactic for backing out gracefully after overcommitting?

Oh gosh, I have 100% put myself in this situation more times than I care to admit. I'm a natural people pleaser and will run myself to the ground before declining an offer to help. Speaking from experience, it either boosts your job performance or takes you out. If it's not something you can juggle, be honest and upfront. The longer you delay, the worse it is.

All it did was burn me out and blur my limits.

I learned a while ago I have to listen to exactly what they are asking and think on it before responding. I used to be a yes man too but then I was getting taken advantage of. I had to learn how to start saying no and setting firm boundaries.

I had that same wake-up call. Saying yes too fast makes me an easy target.

911 Carrera S vs GTS

I really want to do a low key spec on my next car but it’s almost impossible to spec the GTS without black wheels/accents turning it into a more aggressive looking car.

Thoughts on if the GTS in a 7 speed is more engaging than the S enough to justify the compromise in wheel selection?

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. Is there some way I can tell my supervisor that yes, I do like those stories, but I like being a serious reporter even more?

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.
