I think I’m being pushed out of my company. I was struggling with training a few months ago and had a meeting with my superiors. They laid out what I thought my issues were and I have done a decent job of correcting these issues. We sat down just recently and they told me that I am 80% behind in training which was not informed to me in our previous meeting. They’ve given me an ultimatum to either apply for a less paying job in the department or they don’t know what to do. What should I do?

I'm curious, did they give you a training/progression plan of their expectations of where they wanted you to be within your role within the first month, three months, and year upon hire?

like

Thank You I appreciate it. I used to do it for a public school district and I loved makes me wish I never left

Get out asap. That’s an easy one. You can take a lower paying job in the meantime, but overall I’d get out of there as fast as humanly possible.

I’m considering it and making a career change. I have always like the IT industry and I would like to move into that field maybe work towards system administration or higher

like

Get pushed out at least you can take unemployment worst case. Also, they should have laid out timeline for trainings etc… sadly a lot of jobs require training to be up to speed otherwise there could regulatory violations.

I’m considering it and making a career change. I wanna be in the IT industry and doing systems administration or something along those lines

like

Seems like they are trying to get rid of you. You know better. If you think that what they're doing is obviously off or intentional you better start searching for a new company. They don't deserve you.

That’s what Im thinking. Im considering making a career change into the IT industry

Playing devil’s advocate, why are you behind in your training? You mentioned you’ve done a “decent “ job of correcting the issues that were previously discussed, is this due to a lack of understanding or something else?

I was called into a meeting a few months ago to correct some bad habits in the workplace of mine, which I have done with flying colors with hiccup here and there but that’s to be expected of anybody. I was getting weekly if not daily feedback on how I was doing saying that I was doing great or “good but try it this way” on occasion. Plus I was meeting with my direct supervisor who also had no complaints with me. I have felt misled because now I’m seriously behind and there was zero call to action from management or training until now. I’m not the fastest learner by any means but I would rather be told hey it feels like you’re slipping let’s get you on track early than told you aren’t gonna make it now because you’re slower to understand the concepts. That’s why I put it out there to get feedback

All we need it for is to see how much time is going into different projects that our department is managing. That’s it. No billing/invoicing/don’t care about time sheets, etc. We just need the ability to track and pull a report at the end of each month. Anyone have recommendations?
