It's not just you, I think as police officers and also as a community we should do more.
It is a very delicate problem that I feel is not given enough attention, we should do more things, be more prepared as officials. Also as parents we should be more aware of our children's feelings.
I totally agree with your comment, we do nothing and they allow us to do nothing, at the same time we do not have the training to deal with this type of situation, the swat cannot be everywhere.
These alarms are normally attended by the SWAT but we always arrive before them, that is why we are always portrayed, we need training and decision-making capacity, and many times we cannot do anything because we have no order to respond.
I think that a very good strategy is to place civilian police near the schools and rotate them, so you will always have people capable of responding quickly to dangerous circumstances.
Shootings in the streets are almost impossible to detect, but things can still be done in schools, I feel that as police officers we have remained idly by and so far this year there are more shootings per day than days of the year.
We need training, decision-making capacity, and response capacity in the face of these events. I recently saw a video where the policemen did not move in the corridor and were harshly critical, I am sure that they did not have permission to act, and therefore everything they did was his responsibility.
It is not just you. Police officers around the country are struggling with how to deal with shootings in schools and other public places. There is no one answer that will work in every situation, but police departments are starting to come up with new strategies for responding to these shootings.
Police officers are often criticized for their lack of response in the wake of shootings, particularly school shootings. Critics say that officers often do nothing in the aftermath of a shooting, instead waiting for orders from administrators or politicians. Others argue that police can do more to prevent shootings from happening in the first place. Still, others say that police need better training on how to respond to shootings. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that something needs to change in order to protect students and other victims of gun violence.
