I took my laptop on vacation thinking I’d just “check in” for a bit. Soon, mornings by the beach turned into replying to emails, and afternoons meant quick calls from the hotel lobby. By the third day, I realized I wasn’t really on vacation at all. So I shut it down, left the laptop in the bag, and finally let myself enjoy the break. Do you ever struggle to fully unplug when you’re supposed to be resting?

I learned the hard way, a long time ago, that I'm in charge of protecting my personal time. Sounds like you just learned that lesson yourself. What I'm on PTO, everything goes on silent and work devices get left behind.

Don’t burn yourself out with work! I often find myself looking at our stores production numbers on my days off and I somehow end up in the store when I’m off

I did that with freelance only, and then even stopped that. You have worked for that vacation, and should enjoy it.

You have earned that vacation after replying to those emails. So you deserve to enjoy it without worrying about the work. I have learned it the hard way too.

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

We need to STOP glamorizing overworking. Please.

The absence of sleep, good diet, exercise, relaxation, and time with friends and family isn’t something to be applauded.

To many people wear their burnout as a badge of honor. It’s time to consider pivoting.

And it needs to change.

Do you think we’ll ever travel again or will we be remote forever?

Need some advice on renting here in ATX.

Back in May 2021, I rented a property that had sustained damage during the big snow storm. This wasn't disclosed at lease signing. The home leaked every time it rained, mold was found in the home & the LL failed to make repairs that resulted in me falling down a flight of stairs. I moved out& rented an apt for 2 mos before signing a lease on the house I live in now. This house has a serious big problem& I've found mold here too. Continued below

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
