Hi there. I'm a career coach for creative professionals so this advice is coming from someone with experience helping creatives take the next step in their career. I'm going to be honest, having an itch to do something else in this volatile market isn't a great reason to jump into a new career.
Is it a wild jump b/c a producer has to understand the creative world. I'm not sure what kind of producer you mean digital, tv. etc. I'd also say there are a lot of producers who are struggling to find work.
I know someone here who went from a finance role to producer. It’s super possible. I would start by making friends with the producers at your agency. Ask them about their job. Tell them you’re interested in learning more. To Robin’s point, figure out what type of production speaks most to you. Maybe after all those conversations you decide it’s for you. Meet with the head of production and tell them your interested in going down the producer. It will be a slow transition but it’s definitely possible!
And don’t listen to the chronic downers who say there aren’t jobs. There’s a lot of luck and timing involved with transitions but you won’t know what your luck or timing will be until you try.
Thank you!

Also agency producers vs a line producer are like real fighter fighters and children playing with a toy set
Rising Star
No. The agency producer. I phrased it exactly incorrectly.
