Is the compensation plan editable to allocate ex gratia amount updated post promotion this September.

They need me at my job, but I’m being way under paid. I’ve asked twice for a pay increase. (With a no a a response) I want to put in my two weeks notice to see if they would consider giving me a pay increase.. but I don’t have a back up plan right now to do so. Any suggestions. It hard for them to find employees and the turn over rate is to the rooftop! I would be hard to replace at a short notice now that they are hiring like four new physicians and providers

Random/odd question if anyone knows the answer: if you are a corporation in state A (California), can you operate as a sole proprietorship in State B (Massachusetts), and have your website list the name of your company and both states in which you operate? Asking for civil procedure purposes in Massachusetts and wondering if the State A Corp is an unregistered foreign Corp in State B that I can tattle on. Polling the audience!

I’m getting ready for my first telephonic Case Management Conference as a first year associate. I’ve never been “in front” of a judge before. I received some training and I look forward to the experience, but I’m a little nervous about having to speak in front of the judge. I know the case, but I’m afraid I’ll freeze and make a fool of myself. Any advice re: court calls, courtroom etiquette, or stories about your first times in front of judges?

7 year lawyer here. Been with the same big national firm all 7 years (not BigLaw) doing complex litigation. Been working remote a long time due to moving around for wife’s job. As a result of the moving was bumped off partner track. I’m looking at a great small firm that will be a practice change (but still litigation). I’m told they’re looking for someone with less experience and they’re skeptical because of my experience. It’s frustrating. How do I overcome this?

When is it appropriate to follow up after an interview for a lateral position? Had a screener call 2 weeks ago and then an interview with the partner + senior associate last Thursday where it was mentioned that they would “likely” want me to meet more people. The sister of someone I know was accosted while moving, she went indoors and called the police who did not show, then once back outdoors she got into an altercation w/ the person who accosted her but was only trying to defend herself.
