I was driving for Uber this afternoon, trying to earn a little extra cash. One of my customers was a new student, and her dad, whom I just met last week at orientation. It was so embarrassing, and I don't know how this will shake out when school starts again this week. How do you maintain authority with students when they catch you working your side gig?

I understand your embarrassment, but would encourage you to dismiss it altogether. There is NO shame in honest labor, and it is a very reasonable side gig for a teacher . Hold your head up, and continue with your work, and your student will understand the difference between your work in the car and your work at school!Your advantage - you were able to meet your student in a setting other than school!

I work side hustles, and i'm never embarrassed; I like nice stuff and vacations.

You do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do. Added another side hustle just today. Not big money necessarily, but I realized a few years back that every $75-$100 I make covers a date night with my wife and that is very much worth the time spent working. Secondly, when that kids grows ups and the going gets tough, she will remember the extra work you did. It’s just another way you’re a positive role model.

You should feel proud of what you're doing, show them that you like to make money and be responsible for bills and family. Some kids don't get it, but explain it to them or just tell them I'd rather have this gig than loans..

I do the same thing I'd done every day up to that point.

This experience is nothing new. My mom, who went to school in the 1950s mentioned how her high school teacher worked at his parents Bowling alley in the summer. She never thought any less of him and all her stories were of how he was a great teacher and a kind guy no matter where he worked. As Dr. Angelo said, "they won't remember what you said but they will remember how you made them feel."

Im nearing retirement, so to boost my pension, I've been working at a local state park during the summer. I actually work with students and it allows me to show them that I'm a normal person who isn't afraid of working....

Why would you be embarrassed? You're working to supplement your pay as a teacher. If teachers were paid like other professionals with the same level of education and experience, you wouldn't need a side hussle.

Hello folks,

My current ctc is 23lpa and I have offer of around 36lpa in India
However i am getting an onsite opportunity In Denmark, what should be my expected ctc there? Considering the country is much expensive. If anyone has done research regarding cost of living in Denmark earlier, please share your thoughts on this, it would be very helpful. They are willing to offer 60k euros, but I feel 36 lpa in india is better deal. Companies are equivalent.

I’ve been a management consultant for 3.5 yrs. I’ve done 18 months of internal sustainability work such as building our sustainability practice, initiatives to get B CORP, SBTI, tracked carbon emissions, company campaigns for sustainability awareness, sustainability strategy. I want to move into a sustainability consulting role. Which area of sustainability consulting should I look at? Are there any courses or certifications I should do?

I have a coworker who keeps spouting comparative odds and situations in regards to the safety of the vaccine. Such as: you're twice as likely to get hit by lightening than have blod clots from JJ. It's very annoying and I find it to be really inapprorpriate, maybe because it's pushy or just I find these comparative things to be a bit irrelevant. How does one handle something like that? Can you shut the person down without starting a spat?

My fiancé will NOT stop talking about her ex. After I found out they were texting arguing she justified it by saying it was about the dogs and not them. I try to bring it up and I get dismantled for being too mean and making “false accusations.” How much more obvious can it be?
