I was just separated from my company this morning. After being put on a PIP plan (which btw came as a surprise). Never not once was I told that I’m doing something wrong. In the end, I think I was put on this ridiculous plan because one of the executives stopped liking me. Ever since then, I’ve been targeted up until this point. What do I do?

PIP plans rarely are actually about improvement, they are usually the letter to say you are on your way out. Sometimes you can approach your employer and ask for a compromise agreement - basically, you acknowledge they don't want you there and suggest they can save many weeks of process and procedure (which you will be slow and difficult in) by giving you a nice sum of money and a good reference - and you'll resign and work your notice if they wish it. Doesn't always work.
If you've already resigned (not sure what "separated" means) then really, theres nothing else you can do and it might be best to move on.

They don’t need a reason to fire you. An executive not liking you is a good enough reason to let someone go. It’s unfortunate

If you are a member of a protected class (age, race, ethnicity etc) you can threaten to sue them due to discrimination provided you can find a lawyer who will take the case and you have documentation. You can also sue if you are a whistleblower and they are doing something illegal. A company will have to pay up to 200,000 to defend against it, so may settle for a lesser amount prior to going to court. Also, you have to have been fired or resigned due to harassment, hostile work environment, or retaliation which is known as a constructive discharge. Get a free consult with an employment lawyer to see if you have a case and if they are willing to take you on as a client.

I empathize. I remember in 2005, I was put on a PIP plan at Petco. It was my second Accounting job. Learn everything you can from an employer. Never stay longer than it benefits you to. Always go out and up, until you find opportunities where a step down in position may bring a leap forward in compensation.

I am meeting with my old VP of HR for lunch soon, they got let go after a few months with the company. I had a great working relationship with them and felt they were really trying to push me forward in the company unlike my manager. I can’t shake off the “guilt” feeling like I am doing something wrong. Can anyone relate?

I feel like a failure as a parent at times - my youngest daughter is extremely anxious about middle school and in the first week has already had two emotional breakdowns. She is so worried about people picking on her and not having friends. I have reached out to the counselor and principal with hopes to get her some support in school, but I can’t do anything to make it better. I feel like I should be able to do more than encourage her but I know some battles she had to fight on her own.
