I was laid off in November and have been job hunting. I get a decent amount of interviews where recruiters I speak with are super excited about my experience and portfolio. However when I do the actual interview I never get passed the 1st round. They usually have a list of questions and drill me. What am I competing with? Are ppl more “interview coached”? Is it just that more competitive out there? Is it because of my more senior role?

I expressed a need for a promotion or raise to compensate for the major increase in responsibility, a responsibility that is not currently in my description.
