I was let go from my big law firm a few months ago, and my time on the website is coming to an end without me being able to find another job. Is it worth my time to continue to apply for big law positions or should I just put all of my effort into random in-house roles/government?

I would just encourage you to apply to whatever you can find. I'm not being picky these days. Even if I have to relocate, I just need something that pays a decent amount.

It's very unlikely you're going to be picked up by in house. Fedgov is taking a dump right now, not sure about state. If you're lit, I'd gun for clerkships. Otherwise, keep hitting law firms including amlaw 200 and small firms. The goal at this point is to avoid a resume gap.

Which market are you located in? And what practice area?

I was given a tentative offer for a job at a government hospital. The salary they are offering is lower than what I'm making now. For government jobs with a defined GS level salary on the job posting, do they have a wiggle room for salary negotiations?

During my interview process I clearly stated my salary expectations of 95k-105k. They came back with an offer at 80k. Is it even possible for us to come closer to a better agreement with them being so low? All other aspects of the job are in line with what I'm looking for, so I really want to make this work.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
