Hi all,
Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.
Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.
Thanks!

You are definitely not wrong but with the job market as it is people will take those jobs because something is better than nothing. That makes the company think it’s fine because someone’s in the role and then the grind them up and spit them out starts and they eventually leave accounting all together. I have friends who are mid-size firm managers that have side hustles to make ends meet.

Yeah the companies hold all the power at the moment and I’m not sure that it’s going to shift to the employees any time soon

It’s crazy how low salaries are. I started at $35k 20 years ago and thought that was low for accounting. I can’t believe I am seeing posts that say $75k for CPA with 5 years experience. I definitely don’t blame anyone in their 20s avoiding accounting. Especially salaried (vs hourly).

The salaries make it quite an unappealing sector to get into and I really don’t blame anyone that skips it
