Is Huron hiring right now?
Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Does anyone have experience with Ben Glass’s “Great Legal Marketing” programs? https://greatlegalmarketing.com
I ordered a free “starter kit” from his company and received a decent-sized box with some books and audio CD’s. Haven’t listened to the CD’s yet, but the books aren’t bad, with plenty of practical advice.
Now he’s running a promotion where you can get two months of his basic-level course for just $19.95 to cover the cost of shipping. It seems that Ben is one of the better-regarded legal marketing “gurus” out there.

Break it down. Sell what you don’t need and rest in storage. Use money to travel there. Find short term rental or extended stay. You need time to figure out the area anyway. When you raise the money go get your stuff. Don’t try to do it all at once. Do what you can.
What about childcare? I agree you can put everything in storage and load up a few suitcases for you both, but what do you have in place for your son?
Also, if it's reimbursement, they will likely only pay you whatever your layout. So you still have to risk a new rental, daycare fees, etc., before they pay you back or potentially cancel the job. I hope it works out, but given all the stories these days, please research this company thoroughly and mentally prepare to find a lawyer if needed.
Personal loan or line of credit from a credit union
Try Upstart, BestEgg, or CreditFresh, Personify are short term options (high interest but may make sense still since you will be reimbursed)…. the trick is any who don’t weigh credit as much want to see income so if you dont have income yet that could be tricky.
Are you sure you want to take this job?
They’re waving a red flag in your face at the moment
Because of the bait and switch and because of the way they are treating you
You’re saying that you don’t have the money for the move which means you’re likely in financial Dire Straits and you want to take this job… Or any job to get out of it?
My worry for you is that you move there and then they fire you because you’ve already made a request which they likely see as a demand and because they seem shady AF
