I was recently let go from my job as an Administrative Legal Assistant. I was told the company was going in another direction. Even though I am relieved because I wasn’t being given much work (I still needed my job). I drove an hour one way almost every day just to sit in my office bored half to death. The work duties I had been given when I was hired were taken away so I saw it coming.

I have a paralegal degree and an art degree and have over 20 years in the legal world.

I am currently in Wipro having CTC as 7.8 LPA.. I have got an offer from TCS which is 11LPA.However, my Basic Pay/Fixed compensation is getting reduced from my current base pay in the new offer and also the HRA is getting reduced. The HR is telling that the basic is fixed as per policy and they cannot change it. The base pay is less but there are several other components which are higher. Should I take up the new offer? Please help. Will the reduction in base pay impact my career?

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.
