I was so happy for my old boss when he landed a position at SSA in December. Well, he just got a termination letter. And I don't think he'll be able to make the switch back here unfortunately. I wonder how many other contractors, great workers, got caught up in this mess just like he did.

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Typical base for SC at D GPS in DC? Have 5 yoe and a masters degree. Already have a secret clearance.

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.

I love what I do and I have an offer to stay in International Development and be a manager with 86k, focusing on my technical area + lots of travel. But I also have offers from Deloitte and EY to be a GPS consultant at ~100k. Is it worth it to move to D or EY? Have personal financial goals that i need to reach for my family and thats why i started considering EY and D.

Anyone in D’s federal SCM practice? Do you like it (the work, the people, WLB)? Thinking about applying....

2 year 10 months experience as an financial analyst in the industry. Deloitte has an offer of 86k coming in as a consulting analyst. Did not asked about signing bonus yet. Also received an industry offer of 91500.
According to recruiter, I’ll be a high level analyst and most likely be a C next year. Might not be able to match industry offer cus lack of experience to be a C yet.

Wife found out today that the Schedule A fed position she was hired into (and has been doing for year) was misappropriated to her because she didn’t meet the certs on USA Jobs and her permanent position is now a temporary one that will end in 10 months…..I’m flabbergasted and disgusted by the hiring agency, any know of resources (legal or otherwise) for fed employees in the weird situation?

Recently relocated IT cloud engineer looking for a new position in the DC area around the December time frame. Is hiring slow for IT in the area this time of the year?

Sometimes the leadership does not even inform you on the status of a submitted proposal unless we win the work. I get why they are doing it but it would be great if there was an external source/website that would share this info instead of us waiting around to hear from them.

Is Federal/Public Sector consulting fulfilling work? I'm at a tier 2 consulting firm right now focused on retail clients, and I just feel like there is zero point to this work. Its all about increasing sales of a product that people could easily live without. As an Associate, I just move boxes around on PPT slides all day. Looking for better WLB and fulfillment in my work, thinking that might be Public Sector work.

What's the market these days for someone with not-great technical skills, 12 YOE, TS clearance, hard-to-find/unique skillset, elite masters, middle management in DoD contracting, experience with critical/high profile roles?

I'm thinking 120-135k would be bad/mediocre, 180-195k would be possible/a stretch, and 160-170k would be doable/realistic. Thoughts? Not interested in Deloitte.
