No, I think they're more shocked to hear I like my job. And I do, but I'm not passionate about it. Those are two completely different things. I enjoy what I do, I'm good at it, it pays well, and I go home at 5 and don't think about it. That *is* the dream for me. Not everyone needs to be burning with passion for their work.
Same here! This is very well said
I’m passionate about my industry and I’m passionate about certain functions of my job, like risk management and client relationships. I cannot say I am passionate about project management as a whole. I suspect my answer may be relatable to quite a few people.
Hmm I don’t think I’ve ever thought about it that way. Might steal this lol
I think liking a job enough is what matters. We can’t all be in love with our jobs and feel super passionate all the time. I feel like these people are outliers but it still makes us feel a bit self conscious nonetheless. I like my job in general but I still get very frustrated with it at times. I’m in the process of figuring myself out outside of work so that it doesn’t feel like my life revolves around my job.
Right! Working in your passion is an outlier for sure

I’ve found older people are shocked but most of my cohort understand. It’s not like I’m passionless I just don’t have a lot of passion for work. I care much more for my family than for work.
I’ve actually met someone younger who said I should switch careers to my passion…. Whatever that is lol
Most people I know aren’t thrilled about their career but when you are genuinely interested by your work that is lucky in some ways
Yea I’m realizing that now
