Any science teachers here?! Dissecting frogs in eighth grade made me want to learn everything I could about anatomy, that's why I'm a science teacher, and it's not the same to teach kids online as it is in person

You're not back in the classroom yet? Where are you if you don't mind me asking? I agree, the pandemic made it a lot harder to keep kids engaged.

You are absolutely right, I loved going back to teaching in the classroom. It's not the same and the students also show more interest if they are doing the practicals.

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. What’s the best way of encouraging young team members to actually disconnect during their time away? I have some individuals that will not take actual vacations, they say, “I’ll have my laptop and phone”. My response is “please leave your laptop at home and turn off teams and outlook phone notifications. If there is an emergency and we have a question only you can answer, we can call or text. we’ve got this.”

I currently work at a large research institution and am in the process of getting retroactively reclassified to a new title (Long story but my PI is cheap and routinely pays ppl the bare minimum so now the Union is helping me w/ a retro reclass.)
