I’m currently an Onboarding Manager where it’s very tech focused, data/reports ridden but I feel like my passion is definitely more creative like creating training materials/demos or working products. How can I make this shift to Training or Product? Any help would be great, I’ve felt such anxiety since I started this job a couple months ago because I know I’m not great at it and my skills are definitely in another area.

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

What’s the best way of encouraging young team members to actually disconnect during their time away? I have some individuals that will not take actual vacations, they say, “I’ll have my laptop and phone”. My response is “please leave your laptop at home and turn off teams and outlook phone notifications. If there is an emergency and we have a question only you can answer, we can call or text. we’ve got this.”

Chemotherapy is always improving but there's a lack of funding for some areas. Why do you think this is?

How do scientists get funding for projects, is it mainly grants or are there a lot of private donors?

Working on applications for academic positions (tenure-track), and finding it extremely difficult to write a research statement that is not too close to my current research that hiring faculty would think I lack originality, but also not too far-fetched/unrealistic or on topics that I find interesting but has insufficient knowledge/expertise.

Any tips?

When it comes time for me to write my dissertation, the only way I can actually write it is if someone buys me a grant so that I can afford to make the time to write it!

I've submitted my latest paper to the largest journal in my field, but it's taking forever for them to review it. I feel like they're just stalling me because they don't want to publish it. But if they don't publish it, then who will? And what happens if someone else finds out about my findings before they're published?

I currently work at a large research institution and am in the process of getting retroactively reclassified to a new title (Long story but my PI is cheap and routinely pays ppl the bare minimum so now the Union is helping me w/ a retro reclass.) Reclass can take 2 - 6 months to process. Meanwhile, I am interviewing for industry job. If I get an industry job, what do I do if my reclass isn’t processed yet? Currently going to school for my cannabis certification but I rarely see any jobs that offer cannabis research. I currently work in a lab/greenhouse environment and would love to continue that line of work with hemp/cannabis. Yet again no luck whatsoever, just finding jobs as budtenders or running a dispensary. Does anyone know where I can find research-based cannabis jobs? I have a degree in horticulture with lab experience.
