I've heard "overqualified" before. I've never had it spelled out so clearly. That honesty is really refreshing. It also makes me think you're going to find a job sooner than later. You're clearly impressing the people you're interviewing with, you just need to find the right opportunity.
Thanks, that really means a lot. It was kind of a gut punch at first, but you're right, the hiring manager was straight with me, which I actually respect. Usually it's just radio silence or some vague "not a fit" line. I'm trying not to let it mess with my head too much. But yeah, I do feel like I'm interviewing well overall, so hopefully the right thing comes along soon. Fingers crossed. Appreciate the vote of confidence!
You’ll either want more money or leave for a better opportunity soon. My bigger question is, why did they bring you in, already knowing your skills, and not offer something that was a better fit if they have it?
Your guess is as good as mine. The posting was pretty generic, my resume clearly shows senior-level stuff, but recruiters and hiring managers sometimes cast a wide net hoping for a "bargain" hire; someone with more experience who'll take the salary they're offering. Or maybe they genuinely thought it could work until they met me and realized the gap. It's frustrating, though.
