I wish workplaces would mandate one day a week where meetings are banned, and calls and emails can only be made for urgent reasons. So everybody gets a day where they can actually take a breather and catch up on their outstanding work. I feel like Fridays or Mondays should be a no go for meeting, what do your meeting heavy days look like? Do you implement certain meetings for each day?

Someone needs to be on their death bed for me to accept a Friday afternoon meeting.

And even then I'd still have to think about it.

Haha! Same. Especially early morning meetings on Fridays

I have a policy where briefings should be Monday and Wednesday. Never a Friday. Everyone nods and agrees but PM seem to run the show and it never happens.

I love this idea. I think no meetings on Monday is a stretch with it being the first work day of the week. But a ban on Friday meetings would be very productive IMO. A way to lessen the stress a little before the weekend.

My agency floated this but it just wasn't feasible.

You can reject meetings and you should if it means you can’t get the work done

We have an “effort” like that on Fridays at dentsu. But with the industry being so unpredictable, so are our Fridays.

It’s a nice idea in theory but it won’t work in agency life.

I usually aim to keep my teams from having meetings on Fridays unless it’s absolutely urgent and important.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.
