Commute from Astoria is super easy. You have access to the M, R, N, or W. If you are along near Steinway (M/R), it’s 3 stops to 59th. Walk a few more blocks you get the N or W. Signed a 2 bedroom for $3,500 right near the Steinway station. Astoria is such a cool neighborhood too! LOTs of restaurants, bars, professionals.
NJ it totally depends where you live. If you’re close to the NJ transit bus, it’s really easy into port authority and then you can walk to 55th (assuming midtown west), but expect it to take much longer during rush hour as it says it will. But none of your friends from BK are going to visit. It’s a totally different lifestyle than living in the city honestly. Astoria I understand is pretty easy into midtown, but you’re reliant on one subway line so if it’s messed up you’re toast.
