Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

Don’t worry about a future employers perception of a break / personal sabbatical. If any employer wants to hold that against a candidate then that company isn’t deserving of the best talent. People take sabbaticals for many reasons: birth of a baby, travel, any general reason and you dont owe anyone an explanation of how you live your life. We all need a break…Best of luck!! 🍀
This made me feel much better
I took a year off once to heal from serious burnout and to travel. I have it on my resume as „Sabbatical” and it almost never comes up in interviews.
I literally did this this year, in part because of some family stuff but also because I just needed a break. I've been interviewing for the last few months and if it comes up, which it often doesn't, I just explain that I took "temporary retirement" for a few months to spend more time with family and catch my breath. Usually get a chuckle when I explain it that way and everyone I've talked to seems to understand and move on quickly from it.
Do whatever you have to do for your health, your health comes first!
I took 4 months off before my last job search and none of the big companies cared - landed at FAANG with multiple job offers. Only a small scale really bad recruiter asked about it and I was way overqualified for her job and not interested anyways.
If asked I just said I’ve been taking some courses to build up my technical skills & (if changing career fields/pivoting) figure out what I really want to do.
Just lie in the interviews and say you’re still working for past employer. Don’t even bring up the sabbatical. I’ve done this a few times—at major brand name companies. They rarely run employment background checks, usually just criminal ones.
Definitely don’t do this, I’ve had such extensive background checks with exact dates and verifications. It’s never worth it to lie
Don't write exact dates in your resume. You can just write years.
