I worked at Thomson Reuters for a year and some change, should I count it as part of my legal experience? I was in a non practicing role and basically annotated stuff.

How did you like working there? I want to transition into a role where my degree is useful but I’m not actually practicing law.

How long ago? Is it relevant? If you do, be prepared to explain the legal aspect, if any.

In what context? On a resume? When someone asks you your YOE?

Better than a gap, it’s relevant

If it helps whatever you are trying to do, count it. If it doesn't help what you are trying to do, don't count it. Use it or count it however it helps. You can spin it either way as the situation dictates.

Hi Fishes,

Is there a minimum tenure that one has to serve in ZS to ask for office transfers? (within India)

And how often do they get accepted and the general sentiment by the management when one asks for it?

Assuming that my team works from Pune (and i like the job scope) but would like to relocate to Bangalore office (hometown) once the team stabilizes and processes are in place.

Would love to talk with you on DMs if you have any experience similar to this.

TIA!

Hello UST folks,

Those who don't know we have got the access to "Udemy Business". Earlier it was not allowed, now we can use the Udemy for all learning. I am happy and wanted to share with you all.

Negotiating a settlement. I’m at $10k, opposing counsel is at $20k. My client won’t go higher than $15k. OC has come down to 17.5k and says his client won’t budge from that. Do I offer 12.5k so we can hopefully meet in the middle at 15k? Is that how the settlement game is played? Seems dumb we can’t just say let’s meet in the middle now and be done with this. (I’m a first year, first time negotiating a settlement on my own and I don’t want to screw this up!)

Hey so just to check on my part. I worked at a place where we went to a firm happy hour and women attorneys were there. A picture was passed around of a really hot woman on Instagram who they are oggled , later after the woman left some guy talked about all the quote whores he slept with. The women weren't sex workers presumably. I'm a male this behavior seems inappropriate to me and made me uncomfortable. Am I expected to exhibit this level of 1950s machismo in my day-to-day life?
