Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).
This is about to go from fishbowl to catfish

What was the position of the man who made the comment? Partner ? Associate? Not that it matters on the appropriateness but a Partner should surely know better but little surprises me lately. Yes this falls under harassment and you should report it to you HR dept. You can ask that your name be kept anonymous. Thank you for recognizing this.
There would have to be someone in charge of employee issues. Harassment isn’t only punishable at larger employers.
Yeah ... don't do this. Be a stand-up human.

Given the kind of responses that are made any time this kind of behavior comes up, I can understand why you’d think it’s the sort of behavior required to get ahead. That being said, be a decent human being to your coworkers and treat them with respect and how you would want to be treated.

One of the partners laughed at me when I made the tepid comment that the woman looked really strong. It's almost as if you wanted me to whip out my stuff and show that I was really aroused by the picture of the woman. I don't think that's a job requirement, I'm not like so sensitive that I would police everything that people say in their personal life but if it's a work event and women are there I think there's a bit of decorum that needs to be upheld
You know what would be just great? Men saying something when this happens regardless of whether women are present. How about a nice "Let's move on. This is inappropriate and/or demeaning." For fuck's sake, stand up for your colleagues and women in general.
