I worked in operations and training (S‑3, A3, N3, etc.) managing planning, coordination, and readiness. Now I’m transitioning that experience into civilian operations while pursuing my CAPM, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and an associate’s in business administration. For those who’ve made the move from military ops to corporate PM, how did your experience translate and what useful tips do you have?

When I transitioned 20 plus years ago, the big things that worked to my advantage were flexibility, adapting, prioritization, and teamwork. I think those traits still hold true today as I worked commercially, contracted for the military, and was even a federal employee. I've seen many younger people come and go, and the ones that stood out and were successful were the ones that had similar mindsets. Many younger people have the "what's in it for me" mentality which is good when working in the corporate world, but without appreciating a big picture, there are lots of bridges burned and few long term relationships built. All of my brothers and sisters in arms will always be family to me, and if needed, I could call for help in a second.

Had a consultation with an attorney for legal advice on my options to address a late filing for a taxable event. They recommended me two options: file or not file. In order to help him with the consultation he asked to send him additional information like bank statements and work authorization which I sent.

If I decide to not file or go to another attorney if the fees are high, can the attorney still report me or whistle blow me to the tax authorities?
