Depends on the discharge. Hon/gen: yes, sky’s the limit; OTH/BCD/DD: you won’t be climbing any ladders, focus on trade skill/ entrepreneurship

Yes, if you are part of the private sector you can get large sums of money working for this type of employer.

Right now I am thinking of requesting a discharge because I am about to close a job with a private contractor from Canada, I will earn 5 times what I currently earn.

It is a good option that you use your time in the army to learn a trade, for example, a mechanic or a paramedic, or even to be a police officer, these are things that allow you to request discharge and get a job after that.

If I’m contributing to my Roth 401k vs pretax 401k and my employer matches 10% of my contributions. My employer match be 10% on my post tax contributions right? Technically meaning I’ll be getting less of my 10% employer match then if I were to do pretax 401k since that match would be on a higher amount?

Have 50k in a checking account at a local bank getting no returns. I like having liquid assets since I support currently myself & girlfriend and any unexpected expenses my mother & younger brother have. Any advice how to calculate what I should keep on reserve vs. invest + learn about consequences of pulling investments early (more tax, fees, etc.). I feel like the inability to access funds when my family needs it has been the reason I haven’t invested outside of 401k and have this cash reserve

Currently renting for ~ $1500/mo in a low COL city. My lease ends in Dec and am looking to purchase a property and get into rental game. I have $40K in bank, but I’m not sure what my max investment should be or will be approved for. Would it be feasible to keep renting and also try to rent out a purchased rental property given my liquid cash?
