If you get a subsidized or free health care, would you still worry about a job loss? How much emergency fund do you have to cope with a job loss scenario?

I will forever worry about job. Your taxes doesn't care if you have a job or not. Your bills doesn't care if you have savings or not. They just don't stop. So you should never stop worrying about losing a job unless you're Elon's child.

My health care is a very tiny portion of my expenses currently, about 1%… I need that other 99% of my paycheck to live

“Emergency fund” is something only the upper class has right now….or someone who hasn’t moved in a while. With these rent/interest rates/inflation emergency savings is on the back burner

like

I hear you,with inflation it’s tough to catch-up with the increasing prices…

Dude the bills don’t stop, just cause one is covered. Half of my previous net income, gross 66k/year, would pay for a shared apartment in this economy. I make 1/3 of my base salary on Edd. If I already wasn’t living with family, I’d would have to move back home still.

So far, I have only been hospitalized twice, and only needed an urgent care a few times in my 40 years. I need a job a lot more than I have needed healthcare. And I'm not the CEO of a company so I don't have money to cover me for the rest of my life.

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey all! Looking for information regarding “Design Camp” at Meta. Would love any documentation that can be shared on how it is organized/schedule, live vs recorded sessions, if you found it helpful, etc. I’ve been trying to put something similar together and lots of people have mentioned Design Camp as reference. My AD coworker (not currently my partner) just got hired at a new agency and wants to bring me along as his writer. I'd love to join. He told the recruiter at that agency about me and sent my book. I also have another former coworker (creative) who put in a good word for me.

Should I reach out to the recruiter, too? Or is that overkill after two recos? I don't want to be bothersome. But I do want to show interest..

This all happened on Friday, if that matters. Thanks!

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." After obviously ignoring this for years, we are finally trying to do it before "it's too late" for both children.

Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.
