Reminder that if you sell your labor to live, you're part of the working class. The "middle class" was invented (by people like us) to target subjective differences in lifestyle based on income.

When they lay people off, they often keep things quiet because it will "effect morale". But the firing itself is what effects morale. Being secretive about it undermines respect and harms morale more.
