Depends on your background, where your family and friends are, how well you do in "the middle of nowhere." I think this is totally personal to you and your mental health and well being. If you're moving across the country and won't know anyone or any access to any hobbies you like, might not be worth the high paying job. But if you have a partner or family you're taking with you, i think it coudl be worth it to do the middle of nowhere thing for a while to get your start
That depends on your career goals. Out of college it was 6ish months before I had my first offer and 3 days later the second rolled in. The choices became wireline engineer or design engineer. After speaking with family in o&g and college buddies that went wireline the clear route was design to use all the technical things I learned in college as opposed to babysitting field techs and radioactive metals.
Well if any of you want the high paying job…. It does not need to be in the middle of nowhere let me assure you. You just need to stop being sheep and grow some versatility and resilience in life as an engineer that wants financial success.
