When AI is being too useful, it gives me pause. Because it doesn’t push back, ask questions, or check my assumptions. If you’re not asking leading questions, that help mitigate the risk. But when in a rush it can easily turn into a rubber-stamp.

Depends on how you engage them and how you’ve trained them. If you’re asking them to make a new draft utilizing a template, maybe not.
If you ask for a second set of eyes to review something, that’s a higher standard and should trigger questions if they’re not positive.
Feel exactly the same way - as a mid-level, I find myself using it for things I would probably otherwise ask a first or second year to do, and my role is still to review its output but it still scares the hell out of me
And then what happens? What is the end game here? Who takes over these places when everyone ages out? We are all just racing toward a red light. What a laughable species we are.
The reality is, the worst possible people are driving this and they couldn’t care less about where it takes us. It’s an arms race to the bottom.

Thank you for admitting it, @OP. There are still many in denial.
What type of tasks would the junior do that you no longer need the junior for?
What AIs? Or do you just use juniors for simple tasks?
What AI tools are you using and what kind of work are the tools doing that you’d normally have a junior do?
Harvey mainly, and to pull out key points from documents and identify issues that affect what I do
Are we not living in the golden times? The tech is making work easier but the only downside is perhaps less work for a few firms (maybe) while other firms get more “substantive” work. I can’t yet use AI much for my work but it’s great for polishing emails and notes in docs.
Fair take - I think it’s mainly advantageous right now for those us already a few years in, but from what I’ve learned about AI so far it’s hard to imagine it can’t do basically everything I did as a first / second year, either just as good or better, and obviously much more quickly. I can’t help but wonder when firms will start to slash summer classes
Corporate senior here. I use AI for some tasks that I would typically go to specialists. The responses are correct based my experience.

A10, you’re crazy to take offense to that language. Would you be offended if I referred to the partners I work for as “my” partners?
Will be interesting to see what firms do. Mid levels and senior associates need to come from somewhere.
It’s getting scary good at litigation too, at least the writing and analysis part. It still can’t talk….yet…..
