With my first baby, I had 13 weeks and that was absolutely not enough time. 12 weeks is actually the standard and I was definitely not ready. With my second baby, I was at a Big 4 and took off 7 months. I know that’s a very generous leave, but for me, that was just the right amount of time. I’d say try for 12 weeks and see if they agree. If not, maybe 8 weeks off and return PT for the remaining 4 weeks.
Depends on how the delivery goes I think. Sometimes the recovery takes much longer than others, if you have a fairly simple delivery 2 months sounds okay
8 weeks isn't even close to enough.
We just had our first. Initially planned on 3 months. Extended to 4. Then 6, with last 2 LWOP. Plan for more time than you think you will need.
I had 12 weeks with both my kids and that didn’t even scratch the surface of how much time I wished I could have gotten. I was also told by my coach that was a lot of time but it’s not even close. I wish I would have gotten 16-18 weeks like my friend did.
Also see if your state has disability and/or paid parental/family leave. Could be a good guide. Generally 2 weeks before birth, 6-8 weeks after depending on delivery and then it’s a wide variety of 2-12 weeks on average with some going even further than 12 for paid parental leave.
