Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Hello! CTO speaking. If I were doing an interview (rarely happens) I would be interested in seeing what you understand about the industry trends of our business, and how much you understand our business objectives. I would look for someone who could demonstrate how their tech experience would facilitate/contribute to our business growth. So an interest in the business's strategy and growth are key.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I dont think you cqn prepare for these types of interviews but hopefully it will go smoothly. It’s around 20 minutes. I already passed tech and behavioral interview so i am hoping this will just be a meet and greet type interview.
“Do you understand WHAT this role is and WHY it is important to us?”
Is it a startup? If yes then that’s expected as startup teams are small, bigger companies will not use the CTO for interviews (from my experience interviewing with various company sizes)
No, they have been in business for over 100 years and over 8k employees
Hard to say without info on what role you're interviewing for.
Oh and i already passed the technical round and i was told this is the last interview
Yes a couple and it depends. On the business if their employee counts is sub 50.. it literally just could be a regular guy.
But do your research on them.
Are they experienced CTO or straight out of a PHD
I spoke to a CxO that was actually pretty well seasoned. He picked his nose during the call. I mean alot. Very off putting.
If you are talking to any CxO then you can be sure they won't want to muck about though (even if they do love a pick).
Be yourself (they were probably like you once). Most CxO have heard all the buzz words and topics before so don't bs them.. just be frank. They will respect that
If you feel brave ask about the business and their growth plan and any struggles they are currently experiencing, a good CxO will always have something to say here..
Best of luck.
Here is an update: he just asked me to tell me about yourself and salary negotiations.
Yes….Part of it would be planning. Roadmaps and planning release dates etc would be part of the role. They will want to know what kind of manager are you. How do you manage multiple projects simultaneously with multiple release dates. Do you have presentation skills or only speak jargon. Meaning could you translate business needs into IT requirements. Are you or have experience presenting to senior staff. Do you have experience testing and what environments…how would you write test plans and strategies. Examples of projects youve developed etc.
Kind of like asking for expectations 20 min before your interview. Doesnt allow much prep especially because even if you got a response, doesnt really allow you to focus on the interview prep. So to summarize, you had to have known anout the interview for at least one day…likely more considering it’s Monday… so stop procrastinating as there are many others trying to even land the interview you did that probably would have put in their one hour or so of due diligence prior. And I in no means am trying to sound rude, but its hard to sugar coat what comes off as lazy.
