If it's in your job description to be able to locate and remedy an oil leak, then your boss has a good reason to say something, even if their way of going about it seems a little gruff. I'm not hearing you take any ownership in this, which may indicate that you are more a part of the problem than you want to admit.
It's ok to not know where to start. What's not ok is completely ignoring something and not asking for guidance or help.
Well It could be. Im not so sure which is why im so confused. I was asked to do an oil change on the vehicle that had an oil leak. I was told what to do. But it was noted that it had an oil leak already. I did what I was asked. And they said the other techs would worry about the oil leak. Boss man gets mad for not dealing with the oil leak. But I’ve only done oil changes and tires. So I’m not experienced in that kind of work yet. I just don’t know if what I’m doing is wrong. And not letting a tech come check it out
If you’re there to do oil changes only, then I think you’re in the clear and your boss might be trying to stretch you or miscommunication. Could you tell him that you’re really only confident in the more simple tasks you were hired for, although you would love to learn? Maybe he will front the tech school training bill? Nonetheless, maybe make sure to not assume someone else will come take a look. Look your boss in the eye and let him know you’re done with the oil change and he needs to have one of his techs take over for the next steps (this applies to anything).
Okay thank you. Yes. I only know how to do oil changes and tires. So the oil leaks and etc. stuff I don’t know how to do yet.
