This is probably an unpopular opinion, but parents aren’t entitled to special treatment in the workplace just because they’re parents. If your company isn’t willing to accommodate wfh and that’s important to you, it may be time to look elsewhere.

Yes I’ve paid for childcare before. I’m aware it’s expensive. Go back and read all my other comments where I very clearly state EVERYONE should have flexibility.
I’d be grateful just to have a job…..especially in this market. I also question anyone that can actually get work done with young children in the home
Not everyone's children are "in the home" while they are working... Mine are grown and GONE hallelejuah!!! But unless they are infants or toddlers most kids are in school for the majority of the work day.
Usually it's about being able to pick them up from school..
I think the bigger question is how did they inform their teams of change of policy and did allow the adequate time so you could adjust. Obviously your working ( not watching your kids as others here commented) so as long as your performing it shouldn’t be an issue but I would discuss how the policy changed and how to work with teams that depends on previous policy.
What agency is this?
That‘s to go back to office betweens clients. Probably trying to fustra you to leave.
There seem to be a lot of comments on this. Trying to be from a general view, most of us need more info before we judge too harshly.
The ability for an employer to be flexible is great, but is not required, and sometimes is not possible. I have worked a various companies and that did different things. One was an international company, and we had many meetings in house to go over products and designs laying in front of us (can't do that from home). Another company was a chemcial company (can't bring kids to that atmosphere, though some wanted too). The company I am at now is more Sales oriented, and we have more flexibility.
Find what fits.
Every party has a pooper.... looks like this manager is yours.
People often poop on people that WFH as slackers but I worked way more (average 10 hr days) when I WFH. There was no commute, no lunch breaks, no "water cooler" breaks, no mad dash to get into the traffic.
My company
Was helping make my life less stressful so I figured it a fair exchange no robbery.. But now that we have also had an RTO, they don’t get anything beyond what is required.
Inflexible mgmt. creates inflexible employees.
My management is very much into optics and equates butts in seats with productivity.. However, so many of those people are doing everything but working.. social media, personal calls, Amazon, etc. But to the EYE it looks like productivity so “shrug.”
The gag in my case is they brought us back under the guise of better collaboration but Covid forever changed meetings and I am basically driving to work to do the EXACT same thing I did at home… Sit at my computer and work.. sit at my computer and take meetings.. the better collaboration is a joke…
I agree. I’m not asking to work from home constantly … I go to the office, and then I’m usually out at clients homes in the afternoon. But to expect people to come back to the office between client meetings is not only a waste of time and my GAS in my own car… but also creates way less flexibility that I require in order to pick up my kid. So that’s exactly it… inflexible management = inflexible employees.
As a mefia person I understand how a mom has to juggle everythibg from work and taking care of the kids. In my early days havibg a grown up toddlers I send them to a nanny but after working odd time we finally has ti taje a maid. Now home is quite when all gas grown up
"omg why is no one having kids, the economy will collapse" people when parents get SOME flexibility/benefits: "why do they get special treatment and I DONT!!?!?"
Cant ever please some folks
Moms should get special treatment
Some employers are requesting more staff to return to the office without actually realising that Covid indeed changed our mindsets, focusing more on a work/life balance.
If your employer is unwilling to accommodate your request, either think about flexible working (by putting on a formal request), or maybe it is time to consider other options and look for a role which is more accommodating to your needs. There are many roles which are completely hybrid now. Do not limit yourself, do what is right for you and your family.
It doesn’t matter now cuz I left and found a better workplace. But there was no warning. Literally just a cold email effective immediately for the whole team. Not the whole agency.
