I might get crucified for this by the true strategists out there, but I always felt like a good writer is basically already a strategist.
It’s common for smart Creatives to move into strategy. If you’re thinking it’s an easier path, think again. Strategists have steep work loads and work late nights and early mornings to deliver. They’re just as stretched as creative, maybe more so.
in my experience strategy is not less subjective and in many cases gets picked apart even more intensely than the creative
No improvement there, then…
Try content strategy as several of my colleagues pivoted into the discipline from writing (journalism and copywriting) careers.

I’ve also thought about. It’s not a crazy idea at all. I say go for it. But I do believe strategy gets picked it a fair bit. At least the whole thing will be a new adventure so you’ll tolerate the bumps better.
Agency-world, creatives make more money than strats. If you go client-side as a strategist, it could be MBA-level technical, which is way less exciting than agency-world. Everyone’s situation is unique, maybe that’s what excites you. Also, agree potentially on the longevity. Generally strats also have endless useless meetings.
Mmmm, not anymore. Strategists are at the top of the salary totem.

Feel like the opposite is easier, but don’t know why you couldn’t!

I had a ECD-writer who had previous stints as a strategist. Could also be a consultant
As a CD, aren’t you usually the one providing endless rounds of feedback? 5+ pixel-pushing rounds of revisions before the client has even seen the work? That’s been my experience and one of many reasons I’m looking to move out of creative. It’s never enough.
No, in this case the clients are the ones going round in circles (I work in Asia)
