Live in one room and rent out the rest
Coach
I did this in my 2/1 condo for the first 2 years. It was soooo helpful! If I was to do it again I’d look for a 3/2.5 with ideally two master suites so they have more of their own space. Good luck!🍀
I’m a single person and I own 2 3 bedroom townhomes. Do what you want!
Do what makes you happy, don’t worry about what other people think. You could meet the love of your life next week, you could rent out the other rooms, or you can just enjoy the extra space. A 4 bedroom home will increase more in value and are more marketable than a one bedroom condo or apartment; condo pricing typically stays rather stagnant and the HOA fees are an added burden.
Yeah good points. I currently live in a condo and hate the hoa fees and too much red tape for renovations
If you think to sell then 4-bedroom makes more sense than 1-bedroom. Even you keep it for a while, it’s still a good idea. It really depends on what you want to do.
It’s literally my dream to buy a 3 to 4 bedroom home as a single woman!
If that’s what you want to do, best believe I’m rooting for you!
1 bedroom condos are harder to sell. Also, condo fees suck. I think buying a house is smart.
3 bed houses sell better, true SFH

Not sure about that, especially with work from home. If one spouse needs an office, then you only have one bedroom besides the master.

I’m building a 3 bedroom townhouse right now for myself. Didn’t want to buy a condo that I knew I’d outgrow as soon as I find a partner and then just have to move again.

It’s part of a planned community so I’m just one of many. The builder is working with a real estate firm which handles all of the selling like they typically would.
Do you intend to keep it for a long time? Or just for a few years then sell it? I don't think it's that weird
Plan to keep for a long time
Bought a 4 bedroom house in the city two years ago. Considered condos before my purchase, but didn’t want to pay HOA dues. Had roommates the first year or so but they moved closer to family due to the pandemic and office closures. I love having the space to myself! Planning on living here a few more years then renting out for the long run.
Nice! I’m thinking roommates is a great idea as well, although I know that could turn into a nightmare too haha. I would need to screen them very well.
Little weird. Lots of work to upkeep something you aren’t using. But do you. Some people just want the yard.
Yeah I know. I’m thinking of renting out some rooms but I really like the idea of having my own place, yard for the dog, no hoa etc
Buy what you like and live tour life!
