I’m a fifth year with very little employment litigation experience (most of my work has been transactional, pre lit, investigations, or advisory/counseling). I would love to lateral to another law firm to get more employment lit experience and would be willing to take a class year bump. Has anyone had luck with doing something similar?

I did. I made the jump from government, where I was essentially in house counsel, to a firm that handles employment litigation. It was hard to make the switch. I was very honest about my lack of experience in interviews because I didn't want to mislead anyone. Thankfully, I was lucky enough to find a firm that was willing to take a chance on me but whenever I make a mistake the fact that I'm "experienced" comes up frequently. I haven't yet figured out how to tactfully remind my boss that I'm basically a first year without coming across as combative or defensive so I just take his criticism on the chin and move on.

Yes! Happy to chat. It’s challenging but not impossible. Recently lateraled as a mid level to Big4 LE shop. Thrown right into LE litigation. I’m loving it so far.

Hi Everyone, applied to Walmart Global Tech Java Developer role, with 3.5 YOE. Role requirements are 2-7 years experience in Java, Microservices, etc.. Interview scheduled this week.

Any idea on interview process, level of difficulty and CTC expectations

Current CTC - 9.2 LPA
Expected - 15+ LPA - As market is Employee friendly and one person I know joined for 15+ LPA with similar experience.

I know this question is somewhat vague and broad but I’ll soon be joining a Banking & Finance team (in BigLaw) as a junior associate. I’d be grateful for any tips on how to thrive in this role. What characteristics make a good junior transactional lawyer?

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I’m working at an insurance defense firm, trying to target my practice to L&E. I’m overworked and underpaid, but gaining valuable experience I hope to pivot toward an eventual in-house counsel position. I recently was offered an opportunity to lateral to a national firm for a significant pay increase (150% salary increase, much better benefits, hybrid WFH options). Problem-I would be shifting gears to Toxic Tort. I’m torn between my passion and the money. I’m a second year associate. WWYD?
