What’s everyone up to this weekend? 🥳
There is a Coach and Healer I am friends with in the coaching industry who does womb healing and supports with fertility! Her name is Mia Carlone and her website is www.miacarlone.com. I have used her services in this capacity but we have worked together in other ways and would highly recommend, she does things remotely as well so you can connect with her any where in the world! Sending love and light to all ❤
What are you folks up to today?

Enjoy this downtime. It is coming.
That slightly longer amount of time might be the difference. Getting new matters is based on relationship building and your availability, in that order.
If you want to get work the old-fashioned way, don’t just casually talk to people, walk by partner’s offices, or leave meetings silently. Get into the habits of starting conversations with people in every setting, learning about their practice area, and most importantly, end every conversation with a more senior associate or partner with the sentence: “by the way, I’m really interested in your practice area and if you have any matters that you help with, I have availability and would be happy to assist.” This last sentence is key to getting work, even at an awkward coffee machine run-in.
Yes and get ready because that swamp of work is right around the corner 😂
Use your time to time to read as much as you can about your practice area and watch training videos. If you are in BigLaw, your firm will have a professional development and training department who can point you in the right direction! You should focus on becoming an expert in your practice- that will never be time wasted!
Savor it, it won’t last!! Trust me :)
I don’t mind savoring it (obviously lol) but don’t want it to seem like I’m of no value here
Totally repeating what others said, but building a reputation takes time. Even after six months of practice you’ll feel more knowledgeable and confident. Don’t compare your workload to others - juniors have a tendency of talking a big game when they’re not as busy to hide how they feel.
Just wait. The wave is coming. All new associates in my group say the same thing. Ramp up and trust building takes a while. Once you're there be sure to buckle up.
Ask the associates who are swamped to give you work. If you do a good job they will tell the partner that you do good work, and then you will get more work!
I’m in the same boat. I started at a firm in August and I definitely wasn’t getting as much work as others. However, now an associate who started before me has no work and I’m inundated. I think it’s just a matter of ebb and flow
Relax and do good work. This is not rocket science. The work migrates to the best people and you need to earn street cred. If you do not suck, this isn’t an issue.
Thanks for the advice everyone!
