I participated in the DEI council at my previous employer. The council wasn't anything elaborate. We mostly partnered with outside DEI consultants to facilitate training for our employees.
Is it employee or leadership run?
I take a RACI approach.
I'm responsible because I do most of the heavy lifting. I'd choose one leader to be my executive sponsor who is accountable. All other leaders are informed. I'd then build a small team of diverse talent (customers), middle managers, recruiting, and HR who would mostly be consulted. Just note that HR and recruiting may shift into accountable roles at times
