I have been experiencing a lot of subtle bullying and gaslighting from my company. Its the oddest thing because I know its gaslighting but I almost try to explain it away in a sense like maybe thats not it and etc. My company lacks diversity so I ma not sure if that’s why but its been odd and getting worst every day. I have started looking for other positions that are remote but haven’t found anything that is the right fit. Any advice would be great. I am the only BW on my team out of almost 40
Really looking for a way to turn around a toxic building culture with staff to staff bullying, cliques/social isolation, hard feelings on big topics (racism, non acceptance of gender identity). Last year the staff polarized with the lead bully whom I helped leave. And the lead gossip (who was my secretary) that gained their sympathy and turned them against me. She also left. Now I need to regain trust and eliminate unacceptable teacher behaviors. Open to any and all advice.
Best and worst experience relating to diversity? For me. Best: winning an agency competition for a diversity related thought piece. Worst: reporting a sociopath creep and nothing being done about it.

Help! I'm a Sped teacher (ELA inclusion) that comes home to a High Functioning Autistic 9 yr old with ADHD and a slew of sensory issues that has sworn off soap 🤢. I've made visual check list for bathroom processes, bought timers, tried different bars and body washeds with net sponges, towels and even invested in a pricey showerhead with multiple settings. His set of needs are out of my wheel house. I need suggestions before I just pack up and move out *sarcasm but at the end of my rope*.

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

Is there a point to disclosing a relationship between two staff who are in different lines of service? Never reached the point of reviewing each other’s work, but met on the same team (now no longer on the same team or office). In the beginning, neither of us wanted to say anything premature just in case it didn’t work out. Since it’s grown more serious, we’d be more comfortable disclosing it. But is that necessary?

I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?

Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

That I wasn't going to be waving the flag and paving the way for more representation every minute of every day. Went in acting like I was going to be a superhero when the majority of my job is to protect the company's interests.
This part. Just because the idea of the job is helping marginalized folks get hired. You still work for a company and have to put them first, it isn't a freelance, do what you think is right regardless of protocol kind of job.
I love that there is this position in companies. We have a D&E task force in our district, but it was kinda taking a back seat during the pandemic, so a couple years (only 2 mtgs those years). I’m not on the task-force this year bc meetings are in the evening and that doesn’t work for me this year. I have noticed a change in hiring practices these past 3 years though, which I’m so happy about. More needs to happen but it’s a start.
