I would strongly discourage it for a variety of reasons, the least of which is that it’s a thankless position at the firm, it’s basically an administrative positive which is easily eliminated and mobility outside of the firm is not as wide spread as service line technical degreed work
Yes but if OP wants to move towards an Operations-based role, Resource Management would be a good starting point. It can lead to roles in Project/Program/Product Management, or higher level roles such as Operations Chief of Staff or Director of Operations
Directors/Sr. Directors of RM at bigger firms overseeing entire service line make 300k+. RM is critical for company’s success overseeing utilisation, margins, skill gaps and help with headcount. Yes, at the lower level it’s pretty thankless, however, if you support a good group of people, it’s amazing and very rewarding.
Lol I worked at RSM in both TA and RM. I’ve seen the pay and opportunities. :)
Leaving your service line can be fine, but why go to resource management?
You're probably better off finding an ops role at a larger corporate if you're used to manager 3 pay
Pay cut
I think it’s a wonderful idea!
I would ask those that have done it at RSM. I can think of at least one very visible person who was in delivery and went to resource management and is now in another ops role. She loves her current role from last I spoke with her.
