Wait, it’s $12 quarterly. So $48 a year.... it’s ridiculous
OP, I just made my 2018 elections without realizing that Fidelity charges for HSA. Didn’t read the fine print. I never used HSA before.
^depends on what you choose to invest in. They have a lot of options from stock Index funds to CDs and then fees for investments are pretty low.
I hate the hsa annual fee and their way of burying it in their website.
However, it's worth the $48 annual fee if you contribute a lot. The tax savings for someone in the 15% federal bracket ends up being 22% including the FICA tax savings. So if you put only 1k per year you save 220 on taxes. If you contribute the max, ($6,900 per year for fam or about half that for individuals) you can save about $1500 in taxes ($750 for individuals). And that doesn't include the savings on the earnings you make on the investments.
Yeah, $48 fee is not much relative to other providers. HSAs are much more costly to administer than 401k which is why the fees are higher.
Fidelity ETFs with no transaction fees and the lowest expense ratio in the industry.
They charge fees? 😬
Yes they do, ridiculous
$12 yearly
^that was for ey1.
I think you need like $10k plus to not have any fee. I just barely hit the 10k mark so I will find out next quarter of they keep charging me the fee.
You all know you can go use a different HSA if you want. You don’t have to use Fidelity. Let us know if you find something much cheaper.
Pretty sure PwC audits Fidelity.
Makes no sense. I need to opt out of HSA now.
@EY1 - if you are already invested will you please check your statement
They do charge a feee
EY3, I wonder if $48 fee a year will be worth while the interest you earn on HSA. Do you know what the interest rate is?
With my HSA once you have $1000 in the account (not invested) they don’t charge a fee. Maybe yours has that as well...
I’ve had 4 different HSA accounts (employer kept swtiching to keep fees low) and the max fee was $24/year
I have the middle plan and got the reimbursement account. Does the reimbursement account also cost $48 a year?
What low cost investment options do I have to recover the $48 fees?
I can confirm the 12$ fee. Sucks
