Hello,
Can ex-TCSer join back TCS??
Hi fishes Will work from home in FIS continue atleast upto Dec 2022? Any idea? FIS Global
I got offer in Bangalore FIS and my husband got an offer with one big company in Hyderabad. Both companies are currently WFH only but in future, I might have to consider moving to Hyderabad. Fis doesn't have office in Hyderabad so I was wondering if I can ask permanent WFH later. I guess I will be put in fis payment solution.
Thanks in advance. Kindly let me know. FIS Global

Some people are good learners, and some people aren't. When someone is in their first couple of years, you're not going to know how good they are at learning until you spend the time teaching them.
Give constructive feedback, push up to leadership if you're having persistent problems, and let the chips fall where they may. Do your best to train them, and be patient when they seem to be trying their best as well.
If it takes you two years to understand you might be in the wrong profession.
I was super dumb too, but I do think the last few classes are extra special. Please don’t use emojis and slang “no cap” or “bet” in a work email. Also, the quality of writing has severely declined. How did they make it through college like this?
I love to teach others because it makes my workload less when I can delegate to them, but wow if I have to tell you that we need the entire document to be the same font one more time….
I’m not even that picky. If it’s an internal WP, I could care less if calibri and Garamond are touching. But can we at least read the references and pull the one number from the TB or client support that looks the exact same as PY. Even use slang internally, idc. But don’t drop the f bomb at a client site. I am over🫣🫠 all of it
Hire me please! I'm not dumb!
I just started looking...available immediately! :-)
I know what you mean, too. I've onboarded and trained and trained some people who JUST DON'T / WON'T / CAN'T 'get it' or retain the info.
I can patiently and kindly train anyone all day long, but you can't teach people to actually THINK. sigh...
Whats all this trial balance talk? Is that when you owe money on a subscription when the 7 free days runs out?
The pandemic has nothing to do with it.
It's how they grew up. Other things like social media, fake likes, reels are more important, they are living in the present, don't think about how its gonna impact the future.
participation trophies too
Try teaching a partner that can’t read a trial balance. Has to have it in financial statement format to understand. Yes, you read that right. 🤦🏻♀️
Perhaps reviewing the F/S is the partner's preference, as it is mine. Especially if the reviewer is going to perform analytics.
How do kids who grew up with computers not know how to use computers?
Good point…my kids are on their phones and iPads all day, but here I am banging out Excel templates like a Neanderthal
It’s the generation
I’m older Gen Z, so it is not the generation, it’s this specific person. I had really bad phone anxiety in HS, but then I got a job & dealt with it? Not sure how you get to 22-23 and still haven’t formed those skills. Especially everything is a teams call now in school/office.
Welcome to the impact of remote “work” and the social media/influencer effect. We have successfully dumbed down the next generation to ensure a pattern of mediocrity for the foreseeable future. It’s really a shame and likely to get worse as AI, social media and fake “relationships” get deeper into our lives.
Okay guys! I just had this happen to me. A Director wanted to know why the general ledger didn’t tie to zero. It was an excel spreadsheet exported from QBO that included the account totals. Yes, the Director was totaling the entire accounts column amounts including the totals. I spent at least 45 minutes explaining that you can’t do that, you’re double adding. She thought I was crazy until I literally had to prove it to her.
It sounds like it would help if there were better documentation/steps to go through each process. it helps new folks to have a step-by-step guide to do tasks and then they can ask questions if they arise versus just talking them through it and not as much gets retained
I wish I had someone to give me all of those detailed instructions lol Nowadays at some companies it seems like training yourself in certain regards is the norm but it sounds like you do create/give documentation and you’re only a Senior Associate (meaning your going above your pay grade to do it IMO). It sounds like the A1’s need to read more into the instructions you gave them first before asking any questions that arise. Questions will always be asked, but if they’ve already been documented and they just didn’t read them then thats a little annoying
A lot more hand holding. But brand new people who've never audited just need guidance. I actually love teaching them when I had time. I reminded them to take notes and note right on the workpaper and remember to remove it after they completed it. I also told them if you want... take the time to pull one of the workpapers as an example and make notes and keep it just redact all PII on it. You kind of have to teach them how to learn. It's just not something taught ... how to learn.
thank you for teaching/guiding them it makes all the difference to new Associates who’ve never Audited before !
New CPAs think too highly of themselves .. if y’all were so smart you would be doctors. calm down
A lot of apathy from this new generation. Whether to do with the state of the world or whatever. That said, a lot of them really don't have any critical thinking skills or how to understand context. Do your best but just document their deficiency and show them the door if no improvement. Offshore teams and AI has been getting better every year so just need a few who get it to stick around.
I share many of the sentiments posted here; it scares me that some of these folks will become the leaders of tomorrow. I graduated the year before IBM offered the first PC for sale, even before Lotus 123. All of the Info Systems classes I took were obsolete before I got my first job at an accounting firm. I knew I was at a disadvantage to folks that graduated after I did, so I taught myself the knowledge I needed. I pored through prior years' files and if I couldn't figure it out I went to a senior who became my mentor. Many years later I'm running my own firm as a "boutique" practice, and don't accept new clients because I can't find a candidate who knows anything or at least demonstrates enthusiasm and a desire to learn. You'd think at least a few of the applicants would fake an interest in being employed, no?
You probably were that stupid when you started! Although I have noticed a big drop in people who trained pre Covid vs during and after.
Don’t get me wrong, I was stupid af. But I knew what a trial balance was & could use Excel. I did have a part time AR job in college that could be some of those skills. It’s the simple computer skills that are the most frustrating. I’m an older gen z training a younger gen z on how to copy and paste. Like??
Elder gen Z here completely in agreement with you. I took typing classes and had a mandatory computer class to graduate from a public high school (which taught basic excel).
You expect staff to understand trial balances?
I remember a recent graduate with degree in Accounting told me, " Our professor told us there would be a clerk to pull all journal entries or back up we needed" and the look on their face well. The waited all day for that clerk...
I had an associate who was telling me 'I need to clock out so can you address the rest of the coaching notes'? Clearly they hired a staff.
Where can I send my resume? If you want someone competent
