I'm hearing a lot about AI replacing the need for various professions, and I'm wondering what aspects of insurance AI would replace at the consumer level. Like what would a person ask AI that they would normally use a broker for? Maybe describing a particular product they want?

There are a lot of options already to not talk to a person, but the people who want to still talk to somebody will. It’s going to be the more complex cases probably, but still a need for real people.

My kids in their early 20's will do ANYTHING to avoid having to talk to a real person!

You need to move beyond chatbot AI to agentic AI answering questions to helping you complete and file claims, find providers for appraisals, and obtaining a rental house or car while repairs are done.

For brokers, we'll see B2B2C (business-broker- customer) models become A2A2C (agent-agent- customer) for much run of the mill business with humans involved only in outliers.

Interesting take, and I think your probably right.

People are using AI tools now as souped up web searches. So any questions about insurance someone may have will likely be asked of ChatGPT. Descriptions of products would definitely be in play. The big question, of course, is how accurate the answers would be. I'm assuming in the next few years there will be a lot of consumers complaining that ChatGPT told them something different than the answer they get from an actual broker.

I'm sure you are right. Even though all the models clearly state that AI can make mistakes, people won't do the due diligence to verify.

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
